Environmental Education

Environmental Education underpins much of our learning at Meadowbank School. Our self-made native gully is an inspirational place for learning. Developed since 1999 it is our point of difference between other Auckland primary schools.

As part of the Enviro schools programme since 2003, we are proud to be the first primary school to have successfully reflected ‘Beyond Green Gold’ On a national scale this indicates we are well advanced on our journey towards being a sustainable Enviroschool.

We are regionally and nationally regarded as a leader in the field of sustainable education. Whenever and wherever possible our teachers make authentic links to learning about the environment and creating a sustainable future which results in student lead action that benefits the environment.

Ongoing Programmes

There are also many different ongoing programmes running throughout the school, including worm farming, waste minimistation, orchard care, composting, stream care, Trees for Survival, Garden 2 Table and environmental action groups.

The Environment team run a number of lunchtime groups on both junior and senior sites where students can connect with our school and the wider environment.

The Kaupapa of Enviroschools’ “creating a healthy, peaceful, sustainable world through people teaching and learning together” is evident at Meadowbank School.
