2018 sports notices:

As well as our in school swimming sports, zone swimming and summer field days, term one offers a number of opportunities for Meadowbank students ot compete. Here are some of the 2018 events to keep an eye out for.

FLIPPABALL

The Flippabll competition kicks off on Sunday February 17th – Term 1 so I would welcome those with an interest in playing Flippaball to register via this link 


MINIBALL (Basketball)

The miniball competition will be starting up on week 4 (Mon 19 Feb) Term 1.  I would welcome expressions of interest in playing miniball to register your interest please click this link

NETBALL

Programme dates for Year 1-6: 10 May – 30 August 2018 (No play 12, 19, and 26 July)
 Years 1-2
  • Game times: Thursday 4.00pm | 4.45pm
  • 19 minute skill session followed by a game
  • 4 v 4 game with a maximum of 8 per team
  • Rolling subs
  • Played across 1/3 of a netball court
  • Play with a 20cm textured playground ball
  • Goal post at 2.1m or handheld hula hoops
  • Each team must be accompanied by a coach or parent helper each week
  • Excellent for first time coaches to learn in a supportive environment
  • Full training is provided for coaches – please see calendar dates for coaching clinics

Years 3-4

  • Game times: Thursday 4.00pm | 4.55pm | 5.50pm
  • 14 minute skill session followed by a game
  • 5 v 5 (recommend 7 players per team)
  • Rolling subs
  • Played across 2/3 of a netball court
  • Play with a size 4 ball
  • Goal post 2.6m
  • Each team must be accompanied by a coach or parent helper each week
  • Full training is provided for coaches – please see calendar dates for coaching clinics

Year 5-6

  • Game times: Thursday 4.00pm | 4.55pm | 5.50pm  |  6.45pm
  • 15 minute time on court for warm up followed by a game
  • 6 v 6 (recommend 8 players per team)
  • Rolling subs
  • Played on a full size netball court
  • Play with a Size 4 ball
  • Goalposts at 2.6m
  • Games will be 32 minute duration – 4 x 8 minute quarters
  • Positions include 2 attacks, 2 defence and 2 centres
  • No results tables
  • Full training is provided for coaches – please see calendar dates for coaching clinics

TOP SCHOOLS  –  Sunday, 11 March  –  Churchill Park School, Glendowie

Top Schools is a tabloid sports day run by the Rotary Club. It is a fun filled day with different group challenges that promotes teamwork and competition.

We have been invited to enter more teams and so I would welcome more registrations click this link
