Welcome to Meadowbank School

Meadowbank School is a large (700+ pupils), state contributing primary school (Years 1 - 6) serving the Meadowbank, Remuera and St Johns communities. The community is relatively affluent (classified decile 10 by the Ministry of Education) and it values education highly. A high percentage of parents are professionally qualified. The community has high educational expectations for children.

Like all Auckland schools, there is an increasing diversity in the cultural mix of our school roll. The NZ European / Pakeha component is the largest (approx) 80%, followed by various Asian (12%), Polynesian and Maori (5%).

Meadowbank is one of a handful of schools in New Zealand on a split site. The Waiatarua Road (Years 3 - 6) and Kelvin Road (Years 1 - 2) sites are separated by a bushed gully and stream which are utilised in science and environmental studies. The sites are linked by pathway and bridge as well as electronically. This necessitates two playgrounds and two staffrooms. We employ over 50 staff including specialist Music, Phys Ed/Sports, Special Needs and Environmental Education teachers.

Interviews will be held in the Bruce McLaren Hall commencing at 2pm and children will be dismissed at 1.45pm.   Children can only leave school at this time with an adult  -  they are not to walk home alone at this time due to safety reasons as students would not normally be on the street at this time.  Supervision is available until 3pm when normal after school routines apply.

Club Meadowbank will be operate as per normal 3pm until 6pm but will be based in the Library.

Recently the Meadowbank School Soapbox Derby team competed in one of Auckland's local competitions and came first, second and third.  Three of our students went on to compete in the national competition. Tenaya Smerdon (Year 6) came second, competing against students who range in age from 8 to 16 years old.

We are proud of our students and their achievements and we are extremely grateful to Mike Thorpe for all the time, effort and enthusiasm he has put into the team.
