Our Programme
Meadowbank School offers a stimulating learning environment for children who speak English as a second language, whether they are New Zealand residents or International Students.
The students spend most of their time in their mainstream class with their friends and are taught by wonderfully talented and supportive teachers. A few times each week they visit their vibrant ESOL class with their 'Chatterbox' group where they engage in reading, writing, speaking and listening activities which are relevant to the mainstream programmes across the school. They also receive assistance from our friendly, capable teacher aides within their mainstream programme.
The Chatterbox groups are supported by Mrs Hernandez in Room 16, situated on our Junior Campus. Visitors are always welcome to pop in and say hello!
Our Students
Meadowbank School currently welcomes it's international ESOL students who are in years 1-6. We are priviledged to have them in our school family and we hope they will be very happy here. Resident ESOL students also bring a diverse cultural richness to our classrooms. ESOL students not only learn English as an additional language but they also learn their academic subjects in English... what a challenge and an achievement!
Currently we have students from China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, India, Mauritius, United Kingdom, Slovenia, the Netherlands, USA, Argentina, Australia, Sri Lanka, Iran, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Nuie, Tokolau, and the Cook Islands to name just a few.
