Students
Students are friendly, settled and report that they enjoy school. They clearly have knowledge of and implement the values expressed in the school motto and environmental care code. Students exhibit positive relationships with each other and with staff, and they benefit from a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities to develop their creative skills and leadership abilities.
Achievement
Meadowbank students generally achieve well above national norms. A robust process fosters the high expectations evident in the school.
Environment
The striking bush environment is a prominent feature of the school. A sense of pride and ownership in the school environment, which includes the impressive gully development which separates the junior and senior sites, is evident. It has been carefully developed into an award-winning environmental feature that enhances learning. Students and staff take great pleasure in sharing their environment with the many visitors to the school.
Staff
Staff work cohesively within a cooperative and collegial work environment. Very good teaching and learning strategies were observed. The principal provides sound professional leadership and displays very good knowledge of student achievement throughout the school.
Professional Development
A strong link is developing between the teacher professional development groups (professional learning circles) and the whole school development of inquiry learning, thinking skills and the integration of information and communication tools. Students are benefiting from the comprehensive professional development that their teachers are involved in.
Board of Trustees
The board of trustees is skilled, stable and supportive of staff. There is a good working relationship between the board and the principal. Trustees receive high quality information regarding student achievement and curriculum developments.
Expectations
It is expected that students will enjoy learning in a non-threatening environment, achieve personal standards of excellence and maintain positive relationships with each other. The board of trustees and senior managers expect staff to be a hard working, collegial team who provide positive role models and meet the learning needs of students.
